Setting up DNS records for your domain on the CloudFlare service

Recently, Ukrainian web resources have been under various kinds of attacks. In this case, it is important to think about traffic distribution to protect your resources from DDoS attacks.

One of the services that provides services of this spectrum is CloudFlare.com. To register, go to the official website of CloudFlare (https://www.cloudflare.com/) and click on the "Sign Up" button:

  • select the desired plan (start with the free plan) and click on "Add a Site",
  • enter your email and a strong password,
  • then click "Add a website or application",
  • enter your domain name and click 'Continue',
  • select the 'Free' tariff among the offered tariffs (it will be located at the bottom above the 'Continue' button).

After completing these steps, you will see the "DNS" - "Records" section, where you will see a form for adding new records. Add records in this section similar to the records on the NIC.UA name servers (you can find the current DNS records in the "Name Servers (NS)" section of the order properties for your domain).

After adding records in the "DNS management for yourdomain.com" section, find the "Cloudflare Nameservers" section below. Copy from it the list of NS servers to be set in the domain according to the "How to set external name servers in a domain" instructions.

Your changes will take effect within 4-24 hours when the ISPs' DNS cache is updated.
